Sight Seeing....Sort Of

Here is the latest update from the Dunnings! Please feel free to leave comments. Even though they can't get to the blog it emails them a copy so they can still see what you post!

Well, the day started with breakfast. (as most days do) And food was not in short supply. So many choices for breakfast, some Western some Asian but all in all it was a great surprise.
Then off sightseeing. We all got to ride a rickshaw today (the bicycle kind)they were lined up everywhere. We rode throughout the much celebrated Hutong city (we later discovered it means alley) and past all kinds of neat sights but didn't stop at any.
We ended up the ride sitting at the end of an alley in some "little old" ladies house sitting on plastic stools listening to the interpreter tell us how long she had lived there.??? When it was over none in our group understood what we had seen or why we had seen it?:O)
I just kept thinking (while sitting in her 10' x 15' kitchen with 15 other people) of all the sights in China, why am I here?
From there we went to lunch, a local Chinese restaurant that although not the cleanest had quite tasty food. Not quite the Chinese food from back home but still very good.
We keep eating every meal like it was the last time we will be seeing edible food and if this keeps up we will all come home a little plumper. Elizabeth is loving the rice and eggs and Andrew seems to be enjoying anything that had to be killed to be eaten (sorry vegetarians)
I spend most of my time looking for a diet coke and carrying a kid while Holly spends most of hers preaching the ills of touching anything and splashing us with hand soap (we even have to do it after we wash our hands?)

Lastly we went to tianamen square and the Forbidden city. It is amazing what these people built all for the use of one man (the Emperor) It was amazing but seemed a waste. 3/4 through the tour some dignitary entered the forbidden city and they locked it down so he could have free reign of the place. No one in or out (we were in) and it was so crowded we couldn't move.
we stood forever waiting for them to let us leave and when they opened the gates to let us leave we had no choice but to go. One of the ladies on the tour suggested we relax and let the crowd carry us along (Like floating in a river) but it made us very nervous with the kids but I tell you I have never been in a crowd before and had 0 control of my movements. moving forward was not an option but standing erect was the big chore. I do understand how people get trampled after that experience.
We are all anxious to see Hannah. sightseeing is ok but it's not the reason we are here and it just seems to delay what we have been waiting years for. We can't wait to bring her home to meet all you guys.
Keep us in you prayers, we travel in 36 hours to get her (or at least where she is) and then things should get interesting around here..Love from the other side of the world ..Sorry we haven't been able to get to the comments section yet but aunt Crystal and I are working on it.

Sounds like you are eating well...maybe a little too well. Oh shucks, you'll only be there once. Enjoy. But stay out of crowds all you can. Love
