Pictures to wake up to!!!

The kids played together some today. Bolats arms are strong and he is trying to pull up. he can pretty much support his own weight standing.

Of course he would rather dad support his weight. I was walking him around to keep him awake and was bragging to Emil (our driver) how I could keep him awake when Holly just let them sleep. He said " That is very cute, I take picture and show you"
This is what he saw. Oh well, the best layed plans.......

Alia and I checked out the outhouse and it is different than ones I have seen in the US. There was no throne/stool to set on. Just holes in the floor.

We tried to get a picture of this cart and donkey but this is all we got. the donkey had a mirror on him and the cart had a radio blasting away. I guess this is the modern donkey and all we have in the US are antique donkeys. Or at least I've never seen any of ours with rearview mirrors.

Here's a pretty good family shot. Not bad looking, eh?

Alia ate wonderful today but poor bolat refunded pretty much everything we gave him. He's like a faucet you can't shut off. Also, with the food they give them we never have to change them. (They design the menu that way to save on work)

Our driver took us to the local chocolate factory today. the whole block smells like mom baking a chocolate cake. (Sis, I'll bring you home some 62% dark chocolate. This stuff is so rich and fresh it almost has a berry taste to it.

Our driver tried to take these 2 pictures for us at the babyhouse. These are 2 of the girls being raised there. they were running errands for the caregivers and it was one of the cutest sights I've ever seen. He did ask the caregivers first though. As he tried to take the picture he was speaking to them(in Russian) trying to get them to stop and pose but they would have none of it. he would run to get in front of them but by the time he would snap the picture they would have turned verrry wide of him so these are the best pictures he could get.
It was cute but again very sad. If we had come a few years earlier I could see one of the girls being my precious little Alia (Elizabeth Grace)

I told you there diets kept them from needing to be changed very often but that doesn't mean they don't stink bad enough to make you check every so often.
We are going to try an American?? restuarant tonight. this will probably do us in on eating out here. Like I said, The food is never like it is in the US and the prices might be cheap for New York but not for Paducah.
Mom, We should be in by 9am your time if you want to call. If the line is busy, post a comment and we will get off.
Love to you all

Good morning sweet hearts, if I'm real quick maybe I can be first today. Usually tho while I'm on here a message or two will come in before I can get mine posted. Granny's are slow, you know.

Will try at 9 o'clock to call, can't wait to hear your voice. love you lots

One again, the pictures are priceless, son, tell Emil he does a good job too. I actually posted the last time before I read the story, was so anxious to be first.
Just scrolled down to get a time to call. See, Grannys are not only slow but childish too.

Those 2 little helpers were so cute...and about the out house..they don't sound very handy for women..do you all have to use those when you are there?
Still waiting until 9..
gotta go walk now.
Love Mom

Elva told me at church last night that Tony was accusing her of being "addicted" to your blog...I think being on at 6:25 a.m. might be his proof. ha ha Love ya, Elva, from one addict to another!!

I think you captured Alia's smile today!!! What a beauty!! She is so happy! And I love Bolat's sleepy picture...very precious! O the best laid plans. I remember when I used to get in the car with Em and Whit and they would say "can we take a nap, Mom?" I was always trying to get them to stay and awake and keep on schedule :) and the car always put them to sleep. I always thought it was funny that they would ask to go to sleep. Looks like Bolat didn't ask, just snuck up there and did it on his own:)

MMMMMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmmm the chocolate looks VERY good! Thanks for thinking of me!!!

P.S. The Blog Hog has missed her spot and I probably will for the rest of the week. Seems the rest of the places I work will not have internet....soooo....although I will not be first...I will be here. Enjoying every minute!!

All my love,
Sara

Holly, from the pictures it doesn't look like impetigo, because that looks so much worse than his rash. Impetigo looks worse than it is anyway. Both Sara and Sam had it and when I took the first one to the Dr, He reached in a drawer and pulled out a slip of paper with instructions printed on it. It is that common.
At that time they said to wash the crusts off with antibactial soap and put Neo Sporine on it. It looks like it goes deep but is really just on top of the skin mostly. If you think his is developing into impetigo you might try that when you get him in your apartment. Hope you can make heads from tails of this. Love Nanny

Mom, dad, and Sara,
I enjoyed the call more than even I thought I would. I told Holly all along that it would be fine with me if we just posted here but it was soooo wonderful to hear you all. (even with the second delay)
Maybe we can try it again one more time before we come home. I know it is expensive but "ah the sweet sounds of home"
Mom, Emil is priceless. So kind to the children and a great driver (for here!) I'm glad you beat the bloghog this morning. I know it gives you the advantage when I post that early but it won't happen very often.
Sara, yes that is real close to her full smile. I think we will get his after we have him here in the apartment and get him feeling better. I couldn't believe he fell asleep on my head. I will love that picture forever.
If you could smell the chocolate factory you would just die. chocolate here is inexpensive. Almost everything her is more than you would pay at home except chocolate, bread (homemade), and cokes. Do you think I'll lose any weight while we're here????!!
Love the story about Emily and whitney!
poppy, maybe you can help me walk off my weight while we play golf this fall.
So many things I would like to take pictures of and post but am not allowed to. Like the other kids or animals on the road. (I'm allowed to take pictures of animals but from the moving car it is hard.
Eric, I tell you again, rest up. I guarantee tis boy will wear you out.
Whitney, Emily,
I wish I could see you play tis weekend but I guess you'll just have to win this one without us. I think of you two so often while I'm playing with the kids. I guess it makes me remember playing with you guys (and Ashley and Amber). I know yall are going to have so much fun together.
I love you all very much. Thanks for posting and the call.
Elva, the food situation is that I'm going to get fat. I wish we could post more pictures of the other, older kids. It is very cute and yes it is sad. but they really do take as good care of these kids as they can. It is not as loveless as other babyhouses we have heard of. It is so sweet to see the cook come out in her big chefs hat and watch all the kids run for her. She bends down and gives out kisses and you can tell this is not a job to her.
we're glad you've become addicted. Keep folowing along

How was the American food? Did you survive? Please tell us what you had. The pics as always are very cute and the babies look great. Glad everyone is doing okay. I am sorry to hear Bolat spits up so bad. I am praying that when you get to take him to your apartment you can start to feed him things that will help with that.

A friend of mine, Renee, has a friend that lives and goes to school in Kyrgyzstan. This is close to where you are I think. She gave her your website address. She may email you with some hints for living in that area. She lived there most of her life and might be able to post some things that would help. Her name is Nurjan. Just did not wnat you to think it was some random person posting.
You are in bed as I am posting this so I hope you have a wonderful day tomorrow!
Love, Andrea and Family

I guess this will be a "Good Morning" post for you to read since I am thinking you are probably asleep by now. Hope your "american restr." was a success and you had some good eats. How does the time seem to be passing there?Fast or Slow? Because on this side of the ocean it feels like you have been gone much longer than a week!! I know you are so busy. I am still praying for the Sept 5 date or maybe even sooner? Love the family picture...Callie would say it is definitly "frame worthy." And, oh, that sweet picture of Sam thinking he had an awake child on his head!! Priceless! Alia's smile is contagious:) Hope you have a great day! I

Hey you two or should I say you four?! It seems as if things are going much better for you. I am so glad that you have been able to find some things that you are able to eat. It is a little after 2PM here and I couldn't wait to check the website. I usually get on real late at night. I will definately be praying for your court date. Alia and Bolat look so happy, but they have every reason to smile. Your family picture is precious. All my love and prayers. Joy Beth

Well hello!!! We haven't got to post in a while b/c things have just been so busy, but I've been reading EVERYday. Of course, they've got the blog blocked at school, so I have to wait until we get home & settled, but it's a wonderful end to the day to checkl out what's been going on. I think the kids are more beautiful each time that I see them. They've got that contentness that maybe they didn't have before.
Glad to hear that you're surviving with the food. I know that was a big fear for you, Holly. It's like your own personal fear factor. :)
We're keeping you & your family on our minds and in our prayers. CAn't wait to see you soon!!

Karen

Sam and Holly, I have become a little obsessed myself with your website. I am not much of an internet user but this experience has really broken me in well. Out of curiosity I looked up what Alia and Bolat's names meant. The info that I found said that Alia means chosen one. Isn't God good? It also means beauty. Elizabeth means pledged to God. Bolat was listed as (Boolat or Bulat) and it means strong, powerful, and hardy. Andrew means manly and brave. I hope all my information is correct. Like I said I don't use the internet a lot. Alia is definately beautiful and has truly been chosen. You said Bolat could support his weight by standing up so see he is already strong and powerful and is definately brave to eat whatever it is that is in that bowl of food. It is around 9:00PM here and I just wanted you to know that you are all being prayed for right now. May God continue to have his hand on you and the children. Have a great day with them! Joy Beth

Andrea-Success is such a broad term. We ate (that was success) Holly was up a lot through the night! (not so successful)
I found out from some local people we met that the meat I had eaten aerlier in the weak was probably horse meat. They said I must have an iron stomach.

JP and Julie - We had plans to go to the fair but you see they got interupted. I hope you all enjoyed the fair and now I hope you are making plans to come see the 4 of us. How is the house selling going? Is your new one almost finished?
Christy - it seems to us that we have been here for several weeks yet the time seems to pass quickly. I don't know how it can be both but it is.
JoBeth - We had trouble finding the meaning of Bolat too but that is close to what we found also. It means a lot to us that you took the time to find it. We are glad you are following along and very glad you are posting when you can. (we like to read this thing too)
Hannah - Your name came close to being Alias'. Several of the aunts will be jealous of you being so close to the kids but then maybe we can give them a reason to visit both of us. (you get our overflow and we get yours) They can make 2 trips in one now.
Karen - yes it is her own personal fear factor but she hasn't tried the horsemeat! She is running around right now getting ready to go see the kids, that is why I am responding. I do wish they would let you online at school but our work is the same.
We miss you all and look forward to hearing from you,,,,

Sam and Holly,
I just wanted you to know that there are so many people who are logging on to your page and following your journey. So many of them are not leaving messages so you have no idea what an impact this has made. It seems like everywhere I go someone mentions your page to me and tells me that they have been following. When you posted the note to me about the soy I had seven people call me first thing and tell me to get online to see. We all dream of doing something daring and adventurous in life. Thank you for letting me have a little adventure with you! With all this amazing feedback you are getting I think you should write a book. Even if it is only for your children. Someday it will be priceless to them. Thank you again and I will sleep well knowing that I can read your next chapter in the morning! Love- Andrea
