Sept. 1st 2005 "This is the City"

Ah the sounds of a warm summer night. Outside, a dog barks (and barks and barks) a car alarm goes off, our neighbor slamms their door, You hear the hustle of
city traffic passing on a nearby street.(where are they going this time of the night?) The locals honk and shout at each other in phrases I can not
understand. I would close the window but it isn't open.
Inside, the sound of our humming fan is drowned out by my daughter snorting through her cold (she is almost over it). I listen intently as my son hurls him
self over and over again into the side of his bed, screaming (Holly calls it babytalk) all the while without waking up. (he is a wild sleeper, I think this is why he lost that ring of hair) I would go and sleep on the couch but my son just hosed it down as I was a little slow in changing him.
I lay peacefully longing for sleep, my wifes voice breaks my trance,,,,"do you smell poop????????"
In all my sleepless nights I never imagined that phrase, I told her she was imagining things, put my pillow over my head and tried to sleep.

All is right with the world!! Sleep well all.

Ok Nanny, here's your chance! I know you wake before most. You just never know when we are going to post and neither do we. Hopefully this will let you best poppy today. ( I know better than to say beat now)
Everyone, please forgive how this thing reads. When I start a new paragraph or put spaces between them. They just vanish when it goes on the net. I know it reads hard.
Derek, Good luck on the race. I'm sure you'll do good, it's in your blood. We are so ready to see you when we get home. (always are)
Whitney, I know you girls have it rougher with all the things you have to wear. But boys generaly don't like to dress up. And besides, who looks at boys?? (maybe Emily?)
trust me, a boy in a skirt won't be as cute as a girl in a tie!
Julie, come whenever you're ready. Tell JP we hope we don't need Jakie while we're her but won't know until after court:O)
Mary Beth - Tell your mom to try and post anyway, mom is printing all of this off and we are going to keep it for memories sake. She needs to be in it. She won't mess up!

Dear Holly and Sam, for once I didn't check the blog before I walked this a.m. Yesterday discouraged me, I guess. When I got home Poppy was on and grinning. Then our computer wouldn't bring up the pictures so I am at Sara's.

They look peaceful enough, the wild night didn't faze them.

Saw where Aunt kk finally got to post...she is one of those that didn't compute until now and needed a little instructions before she felt comfortable doing it.

I guess because poppy wasn't sure about his posting, he did it twice. Sorry about that.
Love Nanny

Seems like you've got a couple of "Bogeies" in your golf bag. But, as good of MOMMIES and DADDIES that you'all are, I'm sure that you'll make "Birdies" out of them in no time. Mom's at jury duty. I sent you an e-mail on your other web site, explaining the devistation along the Gulf Coast, and, your favorite vacation spot with "Baby".
Love Dad

Hey! Sounds like you are settling in more and more to this parenting thing:) Welcome to the world of interrupted sleep! But how sweet they are. I already miss those moments of them all snug in their baby bed under my continual care and protection. Cherish each moment. The pictures are precious! Hope you are winding up your day now getting ready for a good night of (interrupted) sleep:)

Sam and Holly, So good to see that things are well. I love to see the pictures of the babies in their diapers! Babies are so cute when they are bopping around in their diapers. Plus, all their heat rash problems should be clearing well now. Sam, the bald spot on the back of Andrew's head is very normal. My daughter has more hair than you and she has a spot in the back as well. It will grow back quickly. Now, the bald spot on my husbands head has not grown back like it should. I don't know what happened there? :)
We love you guys and I'll be praying for some restful nights for all of us!

Sam and Holly, I am having to remind myself thay God wants us to seek him first and not blog first. It is so hard not to get on first thing in the morning but the day gets so busy so quick. I am so glad it is September! It makes it seem like you will be home in no time. You might need to get your couch at home scotch-guarded. Ha Ha. If you weren't stocked up on stain removers at home you will definately need to add that to your list of things to do. There are so many questions I would love to ask, but I don't want you to feel like you have to respond, so I will save them for when you come home. Sept. 5 will be here before you know it. Hang in there. I can't help but wondering if Elizabeth had another feast in the middle of the night and has she shared her secret with Andrew. Have a great night. Joy Beth
